„Raiffeisen Mobil“

Raiffeisen uses the evolaris platform to communicate with their customers via channels such as SMS. Scope of transferred information ranges from very personal messages like appointment reminders and birthday wishes to general news that is interesting to bank customers. Analysis of originating customer contacts is provided in order to optimize individual support service.
Data that is needed is frequently accorded with evolaris platform in order to avoid erroneous messages caused by obsolete or improper data which might be perceived unwanted or even disturbing. New mechanisms that ensure temporary deactivation of customer contacts automatically in case of erroneous or not provided data and therefore avoid unwanted message emission were installed in the course of the data quality enhancement project.
Moreover the project included an analysis of the current data quality situation that will serve as a basis for further improvement.

Further development of evolaris platform

Evolaris platform for mobile marketing is performing a variety of strategic and customer specific projects. All these projects share one attribute. They are based on clearly defined basic functions, among these central administration of users with flexible editing and filtering functions, functions to receive and transmit messages as well as functions to collect usage data to generate reports flexibly. All projects depend on the platform’s permanent accessibility which is realised using the evolaris server and connected external systems.
The project dealing with the further development of the platform included internal improvements for development as well as improvements that are visible to users of the platform. Examples are the switch to uniform administration of time regulation and acceleration of data access. Continuous adaption and update of development and test environments allowed evaluation of these changes avoiding harms to running operations, so that the improvements could be transferred into the updated platform version.

Technical documentation

Evolaris platform for mobile marketing has been continuously improved and advanced. Though object oriented principles of drafting and modularly system conception are rigorously followed complexity of administration and further development of the platform is growing. It is essential to have access to continuously updated technical documentation in order to keep complexity controllable.
Therefore amendments and extensions of administration and architecture documentation of the platform were implemented in the course of a “technical documentation” project. Next to information that is needed for everyday development and administration abstract concepts supporting the platform that need to be considered for sustainable further development were documented.
Additionally we documented the whole software release process that is a guideline for administration, evaluation and installation of new versions of the platform.
We paid attention to quick and easy access for administrators, developers and tester to the results of the documentation project. This is why the documentation was split up in several single documents categorized by topics. A wiki-system is used for single information that requires permanent updates.

evolaris extends couponing function

The existing couponing function was extended by adding further options in Version 2.2 of the Mobile Marketing Platform. The existing 2-D code mechanism that can transmit vouchers to customers in the form of 2-D codes via the SMS channel for redemption at the point of sale was extended by adding further channels. The new version can now redeem vouchers via the mobile web, the "normal" web and with the aid of a mobile client. The redeeming mechanism at the point of sale makes it possible to redeem vouchers not only by using the 2-D code, but also by using a number code.
These extensions provide 100% coverage of all customers who can be reached by mobile phone. Vouchers can now be simultaneously offered and sold through one or several channels, depending on the requirements.

evolaris develops context-aware services for mobilkom austria AG

The main task of this project was to provide additional help and support to people who travel for professional or personal reasons. A conceptual framework for context-aware services was developed as part of this project, that is, services that take into account the relevant current customer environment. Workshops were held with experts and mobile phone users to determine context-related information (time, place, current activity) that is highly relevant for the customer, and the contexts in which information is requested via mobile devices. It was found, for example, that the perceived use of mobile phone navigation systems was directly related to the readiness of the user to reveal personal context data, that users are more concerned about location tracking than about position-aware services and that the intuitive design of the GUI is highly relevant.

EPAMEDIA and evolaris - Successful Pilot Projects in the Area of Outdoor Advertising

Interactive classical advertising formats like placards or city light posters are an innovative option for increasing the effectiveness of advertisement activity.
The mobile telephone is the ideal complement to classical media channels, since it enables personal dialogue and thus limits the wastage inherent to an advertising campaign.
Advantages of interactive advertisement can therefore be measured clearly: on the one hand, the classical advertisement effect of placards is increased, since they stimulate greater attention (even for those, who are not included for interaction), and on the other, the advertisement message sinks more deeply into the subconscious of customers through interaction.
EPAMEDIA has set itself the objective of accelerating opportunities of interactive services in public areas and has conducted numerous pilot projects for demonstrating these new technical possibilities.

evolaris develops new game concepts for mobilkom austria

Mobile games are a major source of revenue in the mobile content sector. Customer usage patterns in this sector are changing as rapidly as the basic technologies. If they are to stay on the ball, providers need to maintain an attractive range of services to keep their customers happy. With this in view, evolaris has developed new game concepts for mobilkom austria that not only provide original game experiences, but also incorporate innovative business models, such as time-based or usage-based charging.

On the basis of analysis of purchasing history, a segmentation strategy for customer communication has been developed to ensure that specific offers are targeted at those customers who would find them interesting.

Mobile Signature - Signature from the mobile phone

There are only a few things that cannot be accomplished virtually via the internet today. One of them is the personal signature, for which the only alternative today is the National Identity Card, which requires you to buy additional devices and install additional software. As of now, only a few citizens have chosen this alternative.

In collaboration with the Institut für Angewandte Informationsverarbeitung und Kommunikationstechnologie ((IAIK - Institute for Applied Information Processing and Communication Technology) of the Technical University Graz, evolaris has developed a prototype for mobile signatures, wherein the mobile phone acts as a full-fledged replacement of the National Identity Card. Possessing a mobile telephone is therefore sufficient to generate a signature via the internet, which includes all the security criteria of a personal signature.

New functionalities of Raiffeisen Mobil

In January 2009, evaloris implemented a few new functionalities in the successful mobile customer relationship management system within the framework of Raiffeisen Mobil's enhancement.
As more than 550,000 contacts were established via the internet with the approximately 114,000 registered customers in the year 2008, the multiple enhancements should make the fourth sales channel of Raiffeisen Landesbank Steiermark AG even more successful in the year 2009.

Besides introducing a full-fledged option of customising messages sent to customers, the option to reply represents a big step in the future for communication between consultants and customers via the mobile channel. The dialogue capability of the Raiffeisen Mobil platform enables bridging the media gap between emails and SMS. It represents the interface between the SMS channel at the customer's end and the e-mail channel at the consultant's end. Thus, quick and efficient communication between these two parties is enabled via the personal channel of the mobile telephone. Every reply, sent by a customer, to a message from the system is automatically forwarded to his consultant. The latter gets an extract of the dialogue that the customer had with Raiffeisen Mobil and can thus understand his position.

Through this enhancement of Raiffeisen Mobil, the usage of this personal channel for mobile customer relationship management is intensified. Insights can be obtained about using SMS for quick and efficient information exchange, and a close relationship can be established between bank consultant and customer. Demonstrably, this will not only have a positive influence on the image of innovation leadership and future outlook, but it also values improved customer service and service quality highly.

Platform-Release 2.1

After many months of intensive work on improving and enhancing the software platform developed by Evolaris, the new version 2.1 could be prepared and put into service. This is the consequent enhancement of a software base, which has been applied to several servers in parallel in the interim.

Evolaris is pursuing its goal of highest possible flexibility and customer-orientated modification with this version, while simultaneously assuring reliable and continuous operation. Thus, the platform can be enhanced by integrating a script language, without affecting its continuous operation New functions, which are of direct utility to users, are: a comfortable automatic selection of user data and intercompany report generation, among others. But even internal improvements were made: new data bank access designs enable quicker access to platform functions with a simultaneous improvement in reliability, and consequent logging of platform activities facilitates administration.

mGBL – Project concluded successfully

The mGBL (mobile Game-Based Learning) project was concluded successfully. The Project Office of the EU Commission under Mr. Martin Májek's lead, after testing content and financial details, congratulated evolaris on the successful implementation of the project and accepted it completely.
evolaris was primarily responsible for this project as its coordinator. The project had an overall budget of € 2.5 million and 11 project partners from 5 countries were involved in it over a period of 36 months. The most important outcome of the projects was a mLearning platform, which covers all the phases of implementing the mobile educational software, from the selection of suitable game types and generation of educational content, automated modification and issue of mobile educational programmes, all the way to supporting the course of the game. This was set up at the time of the concluding EU review on 19 December 2008, in order to demonstrate all functions of the learning platform along with the integrated educational games having uniform appearance. The EU's three-member review team was enthusiastic about the demonstration and possibilities of the platform and the developed educational games. The educational games were eagerly tested by the reviewers on their own mobile telephones even during pauses.
Besides new technical awareness and research results, this EU project thus also produced a concrete tool for practical implementation in the area of mobile learning. As the integration basis for existing and future educational software, the platform provides an important contribution for bridging special technical solutions to open, flexible and extendable systems.
The mGBL project is funded with the European Union's resources in the context of the Technology Enhanced Learning Programme of the 6th Contextual Work Programme.

evolaris Mobile Living Lab Part of the European Network ENoLL

Living Labs forms a relatively new instrument, which is supposed to revolutionise the European innovation scenario. In contrast to classical laboratories, strictly delimited and controlled experiments with respondents were not conducted here, rather potential users were identified as co-developers of technological innovations. evolaris was then declared as 4th Austrian Living Lab in the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL) at the ICT 2008 on 25/11/08 in Lyon and will closely collaborate here with similar European foundations.
The focus of evolaris' Mobile Living Lab is on improving the product development cycle of mobile applications for youth, especially in formal educational domains (school, university students). Here the Living Lab forms a framework, which serves as a "probe" immersed in the world of the target group to generate new ideas for services and products and to evaluate the same early on in a prototype stage. The target is systematic development of applications which will show a high rate of acceptability among youth, and excludes the customary expensive trial and error process. Methodically, in the framework of the product development cycle, mobile and online panels, as well as observations by innovation scouts in the exploration phase, focus groups and web-based discussions are applied in the phase of brainstorming, prototype development and testing in the evolaris User Experience Lab, in the implementation phase, mobile and online questionnaires, and face-to-face Interviews before market introduction.
