evolaris at “International Conference for Interactive Computer Aided Learning” in Hasselt, Belgium
This year's "International Conference for Interactive Computer Aided Learning", ICL2010, was held at Campus Diepenbeek of the University of Hasselt in Belgium.Representing evolaris, Richard Hable presented his paper "Defining User Interactions without Programming Knowledge" with a critical view on different projects in which non-programmers and children in particular were familiarized with programming computers. After giving an overview on different concepts and development environments that are focused on this topic and have been created in the last decades, he provided insights from the comprehensive knowledge gained while working for evolaris and developing a server platform for mobile game-based learning in the corresponding EU project. In this platform, graphic modelling as well as scripting for easy definition of interaction processes has been implemented.
After the presentation that had also raised general questions on the future of programming, a vibrant discussion with many opinions on the role of programming in technical studies took place.
